Spring Sowing Vegetable Seeds

Many of these spring sowing vegetable seeds are not as cold-hardy as our winter sowing vegetable seeds, though are capable of growing in cooler spring climates. For example, pea seeds and carrot seeds are more tolerant to cooler temperatures. Just be sure not to sow your seeds when the soil is waterlogged or frozen.

Depending on the variety of vegetable seeds to sow in spring you choose, some are suited to being grown directly in the ground with the help of garden cloches. However, others are better off being started on a warm, sunny windowsill, a greenhouse or a cold frame to provide them with the protection they need to germinate reliably.

Growing a variety of seeds in spring is a good idea for consistent harvests throughout the following months. For example, sowing fast-growing crops such as spring onion seeds or radish seeds while also sowing longer-maturing crops such as cabbage seeds and Brussels sprout seeds will result in having crops for both immediate and later harvesting.
