Organic Squash Uchiki Kuri is a dependable winter squash producing distinctive onion-shaped fruits with vivid orange skin and richly coloured flesh. The sweet, full-flavoured flesh is superb roasted, blended into soups or used in curries and other warming autumn dishes. Early to mature and an excellent keeper, this productive variety lets you enjoy the flavour of your home-grown harvest well beyond the end of the growing season.

Sow indoors March-April, one seed per pot, and grow on in warm, bright conditions. Harden off from the end of May and plant outdoors after the risk of frost. Alternatively sow outdoors during May, placing two seeds on edge around 1.5cm deep at each station and thinning to the strongest seedling. Space plants approximately 1.2m apart and keep well watered, particularly during fruit development. Harvest from September when fruits are mature. Cure before storing in a dry, frost-free place for up to four months.
