Growing Cherry Tomato Plants

Cherry tomato plants are known for growing faster than plants that produce larger fruits, though they follow the same growing process as many other tomato plants. Tomato plants should be grown in mid-February to early March for heated greenhouses, mid-March to mid-April for unheated greenhouses, and late April to early May for outdoor growing.

Water your tomato plants regularly to keep the soil moist, and feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser every 10-14 days (such as D.T. Brown's Plant Tonic No. 8), switching to a high potash fertiliser (such as D.T. Brown’s Tomato Fertiliser and Biostimulant No 7) once the first fruits start to set.

The majority of cherry tomato plants are indeterminate (cordon) as opposed to determinate (bush). This means that they will produce fruit continuously throughout the growing season as opposed to producing all their fruit at once. Due to their continuous growth, they will need supporting with a vertical cane, trellis or similar support.
