Cucumber Crystal Apple is a wonderfully unusual outdoor variety producing small, rounded fruits that look more like pale apples than cucumbers. Beneath the distinctive skin is crisp, refreshing flesh with an excellent flavour, perfect for slicing into salads, sandwiches and summer dishes. Productive plants crop well outdoors in a warm, sheltered position.

Sow indoors in April in individual pots, placing each seed on its edge around 1.5cm deep at approximately 20°C. Harden off in June and plant outdoors after the risk of frost, spacing around 90cm apart. Alternatively sow outdoors May-June, two seeds per station around 1.5cm deep, later removing the weaker seedling. Pinch out the growing tips once six leaves have formed and do not remove the male flowers. Harvest August-October.
