Potato Sarpo Una (Second Early Seed Potato) is a unique member of the Sarpo family, maturing as a second early variety and ready to harvest from as early as mid-June. Ideal for growing in potato sacks, containers and smaller gardens, it produces attractive pink-skinned tubers with a deliciously waxy texture and delicate flavour. Perfect served hot or cold as a salad potato, it can also be left to mature for excellent baking potatoes. Supplied as 1kg (approx. 8-14 tubers).
Like all Sarpo varieties, Una combines excellent resistance to late blight with strong resistance to a range of other diseases and good drought tolerance, helping to produce reliable harvests with minimal maintenance. Its versatility, dependable performance and excellent storage qualities make it a rewarding choice for home growers looking to enjoy fresh, home-grown potatoes throughout the season.
Potatoes are one of the most satisfying vegetables to grow, from chitting and planting through to lifting your own crop. Chitting is recommended for second early varieties to encourage quicker establishment and larger harvests. Simply place the tubers, blunt end upwards, in an old egg box until sturdy shoots are approximately 1-1.5cm (½-1in) long before planting outdoors.
Maincrop Seed Potatoes
Plant chitted tubers from mid-April and start harvesting two weeks after the tops have died down, from late August through until October. All these varieties store well throughout the winter using our heavy duty potato sacks in a dark, airy frost-free place.
