Onion Plants
Onions are a staple of the kitchen garden and can reliably be grown and stored for supply all year round. We do not all have the space or time to grow our own vegetables from seed therefore we have our specially selected plant varieties which we have grown ready for you put directly into position.
With onion plants it is important to make sure ground is well prepared with plenty of rotted manure/compost. We recommend that before planting the ground has had a top-dressing of a general fertiliser such as raked in. Set out plants approximately 10cm (4in) apart in rows 25cm (10in) apart. Keep plants well watered when the weather is dry but stop watering when the bulbs become swollen. Harvest when foliage begins to turn yellow and die back in August.
