Closer to leeks than traditional garlic, Elephant Garlic produces large bulbs that can reach up to 15cm across. It is naturally found in parts of Western Europe, including coastal regions of Cornwall, and is also prized for its ornamental appeal, producing tall, mauve-coloured flower heads in late spring to early summer.

The flavour is warm, mild and slightly sweet, making it perfect for eating raw in salads, finely chopped into stews and casseroles, or roasted whole as a delicious side dish. It is particularly valued for its versatility in the kitchen and gentle flavour profile.
