Contains three great tasting varieties used by some of the world's leading chef's.
Collection includes 1.5kg each of International Kidney (Salad/Second Early), Anya (Salad/Second Early) and Ratte (Maincrop).
International Kidney (Salad/Second Early) : This classic early potato has a lovely flavour and waxy texture. The long, white skinned tubers have a firm, cream flesh. Can also be grown as a maincrop if desired.
Anya (Salad/Second Early) : Bred from the famed Pink Fir Apple, this outstanding variety is ready to harvest around 3 months earlier, so there is no need to wait for those firm, waxy tubers with that distinctive, rather nutty taste. Anya’s tubers are also smoother and much less knobbly perfect served peeled or unpeeled, hot or cold. Plants are highly resistant to scab. An Albert Bartlett variety.
Ratte (Maincrop) : Of almost legendary status in France, this white-skinned, yellow fleshed maincrop variety has a supremely waxy texture and nutty flavour. Wonderful in salads, or boil with skins on, peeling, mashing and serving with lashings of butter.
Potatoes are one of the most rewarding vegetables to grow. There’s the nurturing process of chitting, planting and earthing-up, the anticipation of a good harvest as you dig through the soil and, of course, the unbeatable taste of fresh, home-grown, potatoes.
All potatoes (except for maincrops) will benefit from ‘chitting’ prior to planting out. The chitting process encourages the seed to sprout, which then when planted, helps them to establish more readily, leading to bigger crops. Simply place them, blunt end up, in an old egg box until the shoots are approximately 1½ to 2½cm (½ to 1in).
Potatoes are delivered in 1.5kg bags, each pack containing approx. 15-20 tubers.
