Organic Squash Uchiki Kuri is an early-maturing winter squash producing compact, intensely coloured orange fruits with sweet golden flesh. Well suited to the UK climate, this dependable variety is delicious roasted, baked or blended into soups, curries and other warming autumn dishes. Mature fruits can be stored in a dry, frost-free place for several months, extending the enjoyment of your home-grown harvest well into winter.

Sow indoors March-May, one seed per pot, placed on its edge around 1.5cm deep. Keep at 15-20°C, then harden plants off from late May and plant outdoors in June after the risk of frost. Alternatively sow outdoors in May, two seeds per station on edge, thinning to the strongest seedling. Space plants approximately 90cm apart. Keep well watered and pinch out growing tips once 3-5 fruits have set. Harvest September-October. Store mature fruits in a dry, frost-free place for up to four months. If any fruit tastes unusually bitter, do not eat it or feed it to pets.
