Outdoor sowing: Sow May-July thinly in rows 45cm apart in a prepared bed. Cover with 1.5cm compost and keep moist. Seedlings appear in 7-21 days. Thin seedlings to 20cm apart. As bulbs swell, earth up around stems to maintain bulb whiteness and improve flavour. Keep weed free and watered. Harvest July-October when bulbs reach approx. 10cm across.
