Vegetables to Plant in Spring Vegetables to Plant in Spring

What Vegetables to Plant in Spring

Though not as cold-hardy as our vegetables to plant in winter, our vegetables to plant in spring are slightly frost-resistant and, therefore, suitable for springtime temperatures. However, it’s best to wait until you’re confident that an overnight frost won’t harm your plants before planting. If in doubt, grow your plants under garden cloches or cold frames to keep them protected.

Many of our choices will crop quickly and are low-maintenance vegetable plants, making them a convenient choice for beginner and expert gardeners alike. Some have better resistance to lower temperatures too, such as onion plants, for reliable growth during colder periods.

You can also find cut-and-come-again plants such as lettuce plants and kale plants in our selection. These allow you to harvest their regrowing leaves multiple times, making for particularly prolific choices.
