Tulip Black Hero Flower Bulbs produce large, fully double blooms in deep maroon, almost black, with occasional green flecks on the outer petals. Their densely layered petals give them a rich, peony-like appearance that brings depth and drama to late-spring displays.
Supplied as a pack of 15 bulbs, plants reach around 50cm (20in) and flower in May. They are particularly effective planted alongside paler tulips and perennials, and the substantial blooms also make striking cut flowers. Plant from October to December in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade.
Bulb size: 12+
Bulb sizes are measured by circumference in centimetres. A 12+ bulb measures at least 12cm around. Larger bulbs generally contain more stored energy, helping to support strong growth and an impressive flowering display.
