Sow Tumbling Tom Red Tomato seeds in spring somewhere warm and sunny. Plant them out after the risk of frost has passed. They need a rich, well-drained potting compost and regular watering. Give them a warm sunny spot and make sure that they don’t dry out. Read our guide for more information on how to grow tomatoes from seed.
Tumbling Tom Tomatoes can be planted out once they are around 10cm tall, and the risk of frost has passed. A small 25cm hanging basket should contain just one plant. A larger 30 or 35cm hanging basket may house two or three plants. However, the more plants you have in a hanging basket the faster it will dry out, and the heavier it will be, so bear this in mind before planting.
Tomato Tumbling Tom Red is a determinate variety that trails, so instead of growing upwards it will cascade over the side of a container or hanging basket. They usually grow to around 30cm long with a profusion of bright red cherry tomatoes.
