Grafted Tomato Shirley Vegetable Plants are a DT Brown favourite, tried and tested to deliver sweet, juicy tomatoes from heavy cropping plants. Early to mature and very reliable, these indeterminate tomatoes are perfect for home-grown ingredients, bringing exceptional flavour from your garden to your plate.

Grafted vegetable plants provide gardeners with stronger, more vigorous growth and increased resistance to soil-borne pests and diseases, such as nematodes – particularly useful in greenhouse borders where crop rotation is limited. The grafting process combines the best attributes of two plants – a species rootstock and a hybrid variety – producing plants that are robust, high yielding, and consistently productive. Traditionally grown under cover, these plants also perform well outdoors in warm, sunny positions, making them versatile and rewarding to grow.

Supplied as well-established plants in 9cm pots. Please do not remove the plastic grafting clip – it will fall off naturally as the plant grows.

Today almost all commercial tomato production in Europe is done using grafted plants; you too can do what the professionals do! Some varieties can reach 3m tall given the space! Earlier crops, heavier crops, longer cropping periods and much more.Supplied as well established plants in 9cm pots in either Determinate (bush) or Indeterminate (vine) form.Determinate tomatoes - also known as Bush tomatoes. The plants are smaller (up to 90cm/3ft tall) and rather compact, can be grown with or without support. Removing side-shoots from determinate tomatoes is not recommended. They produce early, one large crop of fruit in a short period of time (2-3 weeks).Indeterminate tomatoes - also known as Vine or Cordon tomatoes. The tall plants (up to 3m/10ft if left unstopped) keep growing and producing tomatoes over long period of time, until frost kills the vine. The plants require staking, tying and side shoot pinching.Please note – do not remove the plastic grafting clip. It will fall off naturally as the plant grows.
