Sweet Potato Young Plants Collection brings together three distinctive varieties for a colourful and productive home-grown harvest. With orange, white and violet sweet potatoes to enjoy, it’s a great way to grow a range of flavours and colours for roasting, baking and more.

Your collection contains 15 young plants – five of each variety:

• Erato Vineland Early Orange – A reliable, higher-yielding variety producing thick, oval, vibrant orange tubers with excellent flavour, perfect for roasting or baking.
• Erato White – Attractive violet-purple skinned tubers with sweet, creamy white flesh, making a delicious alternative to the regular potato.
• Erato Violet – Distinctive smaller violet tubers with a rich, sweet flavour and striking colour that remains after cooking.

Sweet potatoes thrive in warm, sunny conditions and are well suited to the kitchen garden or large containers. Supplied as strong, well-rooted young plants, ready for growing on for a rewarding home-grown crop.

Key information

Botanical Name: Ipomoea batatas

Genus: Sweet potato

Plant Class: Half Hardy Perennial

Characteristics & growing conditions

Position: Full Sun

Plant out once the risk of frost has passed, choosing a warm, sunny position. Sweet potatoes thrive in warm conditions and can be grown in the ground or in large containers; a greenhouse or polytunnel is particularly beneficial in cooler areas. Keep plants regularly watered and fed throughout the growing season. Harvest the tubers in September and October, before the first frosts. After lifting, the tubers can be stored for several months in suitable conditions.
