Runner Bean Galaxy is a vigorous, high-yielding variety producing crisp, tender, stringless pods with excellent flavour and texture. The plants set beans reliably across a range of weather conditions, helping you make the most of the summer harvest. Train the vigorous climbers up poles or netting and pick the pods regularly while young and tender to encourage a long, productive cropping season.

Position: Full Sun

Sow indoors April-May, one or two seeds per pot, covering with around 2.5cm of compost. Keep at approximately 15-20°C until seedlings emerge. Remove covers and grow on, then harden off in late May and plant outdoors around 30cm apart after the risk of frost. Alternatively sow outdoors May-July, two seeds together around 5cm deep, spacing stations 30cm apart in rows 45cm apart. Train plants up poles or netting, keep moist and feed regularly. Increase watering as flowering begins and pods start to set. Harvest July-October, picking regularly to encourage further cropping.
