Want to learn more about our French Breakfast radish seeds? We answer your questions here.
French Breakfast radish seeds can be sown from March through to September. Sow small amounts every 2-3 weeks for continuous harvests throughout the summer. For earlier crops, start them under cloches or in a cold frame from late February, or grow them in a greenhouse through winter. They prefer cooler conditions, so spring and early autumn sowings tend to produce the sweetest, most tender roots, while summer sowings in very hot weather can sometimes cause them to bolt quickly.
French Breakfast radish seeds are one of the quickest vegetable seeds you can grow, ready to harvest in just 3-4 weeks from sowing. The key is to harvest them once they've reached a decent size, about 5-7cm long, as leaving them in the ground too long can make them woody or cause them to split.
French Breakfast radishes are a specific variety of radish with a distinctive elongated shape and a bicoloured appearance, unlike traditional round radishes, which are uniformly red and spherical. They also have a milder, slightly sweeter flavour than standard radishes, which tend to be sharper and more peppery.
