Radish Black Spanish Round is a distinctive old winter variety producing round roots with almost black skins and crisp, pure white flesh. Its robust, peppery flavour brings welcome crunch and character to autumn and winter salads, slaws and sandwiches. Sow in midsummer and lift the roots from October onwards as required for a fresh home-grown crop through the colder months.

Sow outdoors from late July-August in a prepared seed bed, around 1.5cm deep in rows approximately 23cm apart. Thin seedlings to around 10cm apart and keep well watered while the roots develop. Lift roots from October onwards as required. In colder weather, protect the tops with straw or another light mulch where necessary.
