Sow outdoors March-June in a prepared seedbed, using flat drills approximately 15cm wide and 5cm deep. Sow in a zig-zag pattern around 5cm apart, spacing drills about 60cm apart. Cover with 5cm of fine soil, firm gently and keep moist. Seedlings usually appear in 10-18 days. Protect young plants from birds and provide pea sticks or netting for support, especially in exposed positions. Keep moist and weed free. Make two or three sowings for a longer harvest. Pick regularly from late May-September for the best yields.
