The purple flowers of this tall growing pea will turn heads before it produces its crop of large, flat pods, which we believe are the tastiest of any 'mangetout' type. Best steamed for the very finest flavour. (Round seeded)

Characteristics & growing conditions

Plant Height: 165cm/66in
Height: 5.5ft/1.75m Sow March to June in trenches 6in/15cm wide. Scatter thinly so that seeds are approximately 3in/7.5cm apart over length and width of trench. Fill in and firm down lightly. Protect from birds during early stages of growth. Trenches 3ft/90cm Support: using canes or twigs. Harvest 13 to 14 weeks after sowing. For the best flavour pick peas just before they are needed. Harvest regularly. For bumper crops, dig in plenty of well to rotted compost prior to Sowing or feed with a general purpose fertiliser. Keep down weeds and water well in dry periods. Suitable for freezing.
