Lilium Martagon Claude Shride Flower Bulbs

Lilium martagon Claude Shride is a striking martagon lily for gardeners who want a distinctive summer display. Tall, upright stems carry nodding, dark mahogany-red flowers with sharply swept-back petals, fine golden-yellow spotting and prominent orange anthers. Their elegant Turk’s-cap shape adds texture and height to mixed borders, and the flowers are also useful for cutting.

Choose a sheltered position in sun or partial shade, ideally with the roots kept cool. Plant bulbs in fertile, moist but well-drained soil improved with leaf mould or well-rotted organic matter. A planting depth of around 15–20cm and spacing of approximately 30cm will give the stems room to develop. Water during dry spells, provide support where exposed, and allow the foliage to die back naturally after flowering.
