Grafted Tomato Vegetable Plants Collection includes three well-established grafted plants in 9cm pots, one each of Shirley F1 (Medium), Supersweet F1 (Cherry) and Buffalo Steak F1 (Beefsteak).
Shirley F1 is the D.T. Brown favourite, tried and tested to deliver sweet, juicy tomatoes from heavy-cropping plants. Early to mature and exceptionally reliable, it produces medium-sized fruits ideal for salads, sandwiches and everyday kitchen use.
Supersweet F1 produces an abundance of small red cherry tomatoes with a superbly sweet flavour. A prolific variety that was placed in the top three of the 2007 Tastiest Tomato competition, it is perfect for snacking, salads and adding natural sweetness to your dishes.
Buffalo Steak F1 is a cut above the rest, producing meaty beefsteak tomatoes with bright red flesh and a rich, old-fashioned tomato flavour. Earlier and more productive than many similar beefsteak varieties, these vigorous indeterminate plants crop over a long season, providing generous harvests of large fruits ideal for slicing and grilling.
Grafted vegetable plants offer gardeners greater vigour and improved resistance to soil borne pests and diseases, such as nematodes – particularly useful if you grow in greenhouse border soil each year, where crop rotation is limited. The grafting process brings together the best attributes of two different plants – a species rootstock and a hybrid variety.
The hybrid variety is grafted onto the species rootstock to produce strong, vigorous plants that yield more fruits and heavier crops. Although traditionally grown in a greenhouse, they will also thrive outdoors in a warm, sunny position, rewarding you with impressive harvests throughout the season.
Supplied as well-established plants in 9cm pots. Please note – do not remove the plastic grafting clip; it will fall off naturally as the plant grows.
