Characteristics & growing conditions

Sow indoors from March to May in pots of seed compost. Sow one seed per pot, edgeways into the compost, cover with 1.5cm of compost, firm gently and keep moist. Cover with glass, polythene or a propagator lid and keep at approximately 15–20°C. Seedlings appear in 7–14 days. Remove the cover when seedlings appear. At the 5–6 leaf stage, stand plants outside for a few days in late May, avoiding frosts, then transplant 60cm apart. Alternatively, sow outdoors in May, or in April under cloches, in a well-prepared seed bed. Sow two seeds per position 60cm apart, cover lightly with 1.5cm of fine soil, firm gently and keep moist, then thin to one seedling per position. Harvest from July to October, picking regularly to encourage cropping. Planting out under cloches in late April can encourage fruiting in June. Caution: if any fruit tastes bitter, do not eat it or feed it to pets.

FAQs

When do you sow Courgette Easy Pick Gold?

Sow Courgette Easy Pick Gold seeds indoors in March or April on a warm windowsill. From April to May, once frost has passed, plant out your Courgette Easy Pick Gold into your garden, raised bed, or container, spacing plants about 60cm apart. Water regularly and keep the soil moist. You'll start harvesting golden courgettes from July, simply twist them off when about 6 inches long, and pick regularly to encourage more fruit through autumn.

How long does it take for Courgette Easy Pick Gold seeds to grow?

Courgette Easy Pick Gold is a fast-growing variety that rewards patience with impressive harvests. Sow seeds indoors in March or April, and they'll germinate within 7-10 days on a warm windowsill. From late April to May, plant out after the last frost has passed. The vigorous plants flower within 4-6 weeks and produce their first golden courgettes from July onwards.

How do I know when Courgette Easy Pick Gold courgettes are ready to pick?

Pick Courgette Easy Pick Gold when about six inches long, as that is when they're at their most tender and flavourful. Check your plants every 2-3 days during the growing season, as courgettes grow quickly. Look for firm, glossy golden skin and simply twist them gently from the plant. Regular picking encourages more fruit, so harvest often even if you have plenty, and you'll get continuous courgettes from July through to autumn.
