Cornflower 'Blue Ball' is a traditional blue, fully double variety. Excellent as cut flowers.
We can reassure you that all the seed is regularly extensively trialled, and quality tested. Our seed is 100% guaranteed until the end of the Sow by Date. In fact, our sow by dates are conservative, and if seed is stored well in a cool dry place they will almost certainly last significantly longer and still give good germination for a year or two more.

Sow your Cornflower Blue Ball seeds outdoors from March to May for gorgeous summer flowers starting in June, or plant them in August to September for even earlier blooms the following year. Blue Ball cornflower seedlings can tolerate light frost. When shoots appear, thin them out to 15-30cm apart once they've sprouted.
Yes, you can scatter cornflower Blue Ball seeds, as long as you prepare the ground properly first. Lightly rake the soil, scatter the seeds thinly over the surface, then rake again so they are just covered with a very fine layer of soil. Water gently and keep the area moist until seedlings appear.
No, Cornflower Blue Ball is a hardy annual that finishes its life in one growing season and won't return as the same plant next year. It can self-seed if you leave some spent flowers on, with new plants emerging the following spring in sunny, well-drained spots.
