Allium cristophii Bulbs produce spectacular spherical flower heads up to around 20cm across, made up of scores of metallic lilac, star-shaped blooms. Often known as the Star of Persia, this striking ornamental onion creates a dramatic architectural feature in sunny borders.
Supplied as a pack of 15 bulbs, plants reach around 60cm (2ft) and flower from June to July. The flowers are highly attractive to pollinators and both fresh blooms and mature seed heads are excellent for cutting and drying. Plant from September to November in free-draining soil in full sun.
Bulb size: 10/12
Bulb sizes are measured by circumference in centimetres. A 10/12 bulb measures approximately 10-12cm around. Larger bulbs generally contain more stored energy, helping to support strong growth and an impressive flowering display.
