The small fruits develop deep purple skins where exposed to sunlight, ripening to almost black with contrasting pink-red flesh. Their juicy texture and distinctive plum-like flavour make them ideal for snacking, salads and colourful garnishes. This indeterminate cordon variety requires support and regular side-shoot removal.

SOW INDOORS January-March for greenhouse crops or March-April for outdoor crops, thinly 0.5cm/quarter-in deep in pots or trays of compost. Keep at 15-20°C/60-68°F and transplant into individual pots at the 2-4 leaf stage. Plant into large containers, grow bags or the greenhouse border from late April-May. Harden off outdoor plants and place in a sunny, sheltered position after the risk of frost has passed. Provide support, regularly remove side shoots and pinch out the growing tip after 4-5 trusses have formed.
