Big Daddy tomatoes are a beefsteak variety that grows on indeterminate vines. They produce large, meaty fruits that are deep red in colour and have an extraordinary taste for such a large tomato. They are perfect for slicing and cooking.
Depending on where you live in the UK, you should sow your tomato seeds somewhere warm in either March or April, approximately 6-8 weeks before the last frost. Ensure that seedlings get plenty of light to guarantee strong growth, and plant out after the risk of frost has passed.
Big Daddy tomatoes are easy to grow but will need plenty of space and some support to help them climb. Remove the side shoots or “suckers” regularly to encourage balanced growth. If you’re growing in a container, be sure that it is large enough, and water regularly. Tomato plants like to be grown in full sun in a warm position and need plenty of water and feed throughout the growing season. Give them rich, well-drained soil.
