FAQs

When to sow Sunflower Tall Giant Russian Flower Seeds?

Sow Russian Giant Sunflower seeds outdoors from late April once the frost risk has passed, directly into sunny, well-drained soil. They'll sprout in 7-10 days. Alternatively, sow indoors in April and transplant outside after the last frost, spacing plants 45cm apart.

Do Russian giant sunflowers need staking?

Yes, staking or support is recommended once plants reach their full height. The heavy flower heads and tall stems are vulnerable to wind damage. Sturdy canes, stakes, or plant supports will keep your sunflowers upright, protect them from damage, and ensure the magnificent blooms remain properly displayed throughout the flowering season.

Can I grow Russian giant sunflower seeds in containers?

Russian Giant Sunflowers are best grown directly in the ground. Their tall stature and heavy heads require deep root systems that containers struggle to provide. Ground planting ensures stronger, more stable plants with better access to water and nutrients, leading to improved growth.
