Garlic Picardy Wight (softneck) 2 bulbs - Originating in the fields of Picardy and the surrounding area, we’ve found this variety copes really well with cooler and wetter conditions and, will grow in all areas of the UK. Plump and juicy cloves full of flavour.

Onion Stuttgarter Giant 250g (approx 70 sets) - Well known and reliable, Stuttgarter Giant gives an excellent crop of flat onions which store very well.

Shallot Bistro 500g - Perfect raw in salads, pickled or added to a host of casseroles or other hot dishes, Bistro gives an excellent crop of fairly mild, rich golden bulbs. It can be planted from February onwards.

These varieties are perfect for spring planting- we have tried and tested them and know that they perform well. We choose only the finest quality bulbs. Can shallots and garlic be planted together?

Yes, garlic and shallots are excellent companions. They can both help to deter pests from other crops, such as lettuce plants and will happily grow together. You should be aware however, that planting closely related species close to one another does make it easier for pests such as onion maggot to transfer from one plant to the next.

What should not be planted near shallots?

Onions, shallots and garlic are known to stunt the growth of plants such as beans and peas, so you should avoid planting them too close. Carrots, lettuce, cabbage and strawberries are all good choices to plant next to your onions instead.

Can onions be planted in September?

If you have an overwintering variety of onions, you can plant them in September. However, most onions are planted in spring between March and April.
