An old and established variety and quite rightly so as it is a good all rounder, producing a large globe-shaped onion which has excellent storage capabilities when stored in a cool, but frost-free environemnt, after lifting.
Produces high yields of large, fine looking bulbs with a rich brown skin. This reliable cropper is very good in the kitchen... A gardeners' favourite which is well suited to the British climate.

How Sow thinly, cover with 1.5cm of compost. Firm gently and keep moist. Cover with glass, polythene or propagator lid. Keep at approx. 15-20°C. Seedlings appear 14-28 days.
Care Remove cover when seedlings appear. When large enough transplant 5cm apart in trays. Stand outside for a few days late May (avoid frosts). Transplant 23cm apart in growing position. Keep moist and weed free.
