Asparagus Crown Collection

This great value, spring planting asparagus crown collection will ensure you are harvesting succulent spears for up to 20 years!
You will receive 30 crowns, 10 crowns each of:
Guelph Eclipse : A new introduction from Canada, well suited to our UK climate. An early/mid season variety, this year we found it extremely early to harvest and is one that copes very well with an early heat spell. High yielding and vigorous, especially in the early years unlike many varieties, with thicker spears than many others. Our favourite for excellent all-round quality.
Burgundine : A hybrid purple and green cross perfect for main season growing. This purple variety can also be eaten raw as it contains lower amounts of lignin, the fibrous part of asparagus. An eye-catching variety that is exceptionally sweet, juicy, crunchy and great for eating with dips and in salads.
Guelph Millennium : A later variety with exceptional vigour and yield, Millennium is perfectly suited to our climate – even the cool damp conditions, possibly the hardiest asparagus available. Grows well in a variety of soils and has now become one of the most widely grown varieties worldwide.
Asparagus is much easier to plant and to grow than many people think! Years ago it used to be grown in specially prepared raised beds, but today’s modern hybrid varieties perform really well ‘on the level’ and on most well drained soils. Try to pick a sunny position, removing all perennial weeds and as many stones as possible prior to planting.
Full planting and care instructions are included with every order.
