Shallot Griselle Bulbs are regarded by discerning cooks as the ‘true shallot’ and are sourced directly from specialist growers in France. Also known as the French grey shallot, this distinctive variety (Allium oschaninii) originated in Central Asia and is prized for its grey skin, attractive purplish-pink flesh and rich, full flavour that is especially suited to beef dishes, sauces and classic French cooking.
Supplied as a 500g pack of individual mature bulbs, each bulb develops into a cluster of up to seven shallots when planted in autumn. Harvested during June and July, Griselle produces excellent yields of flavoursome shallots that are sweeter and milder than onions, making them ideal for roasting, salads, vinaigrettes and everyday cooking.
Rich in vitamins A, B, C and E, this exceptional culinary variety combines outstanding flavour with reliable garden performance. Plant from September to November in well-drained soil and enjoy a productive crop the following summer. All of our bulbs are certified disease and virus free, helping to ensure healthy, vigorous growth and dependable harvests.
