Product Description

A well-deserved RHS Award of Garden Merit winner, Ratte potato seeds offer a taste of culinary heritage, boasting an almost legendary status in France. This exquisite maincrop variety, also known as 'La Ratte' has been prized as a staple in French cuisine for over 70 years.

Ratte seed potatoes yield small, white-skinned tubers with a slightly curved oval shape. Their beautiful golden-yellow flesh has a distinctively chestnut-like flavour, setting them apart from many other salad potato seeds.

As a quintessential waxy seed potato, Ratte maintains its superb texture when cooked, making it ideal for a variety of dishes. These versatile tubers excel in salads, boiled with skins on, or peeled and mashed with generous amounts of butter. The plants are reliable growers, offering an abundant crop of gourmet potatoes.

As with other maincrop seed potatoes, chitting is not necessary. Plant your Ratte potato seeds outdoors from April to May and they will be ready to harvest from August through to October. Enjoy delicious, home-grown potatoes fresh from the ground or store them for autumn use.
