Lettuce Veg Plant Collection
Product Description
After visiting Vegetable trials this season, we've updated our Lettuce Plant Collection to introduce some fantastic new varieties to your gardens. Even if you have no vegetable garden, why not grow your own lovely lettuces in patio containers or grow bags? Our carefully chosen range ensures you will have an interesting range of salad leaves with different colours, textures, sizes and shapes. They will grow quickly to keep you supplied throughout the summer. The collection contains 40 plants, 10 of each variety:
TAMAGO: A slender mini-cos type lettuce that is a joy to pick and prepare - with a strong upright growth habit and narrow leaves with clear, crunchy midribs. This variety has very high bolting resistance as well as resistance to downy mildew, fusarium and mosaic virus. Its neat, deep green rosettes make for perfect allotment lettuce plants. Either pick whole or cut and come again.
RUBAGIO: Rubagio is as beautiful as it is useful, with large, deep red, rose-like heads, each bearing high yields of crisp leaves. Rubagio has shown excellent downy mildew resistance. Add an ornamental element to your veg patch, or grow amongst flowers in pot displays and harvest through summer.
VERDAGIO: This high yielding Apollo lettuce variety produces masses of thick, crispy green leaves that are perfect for summer salads. We loved Verdagio as soon as we saw it at vegetable trials and were drawn to its attractive textural green leaf and its excellent resistance to tip-burn and bolting. If you're looking to cut a pre-prepared salad, this is the lettuce you need. Simply cut at the base and let the leaves fall into your salad bowl. Verdagio also has the added bonus of having a long shelf life once harvested.
CLASSICO: Classico is the red form of Verdagio and they look great as a duo; equally high yielding, with textured, shiny leaves that serve a satisfying crunch. These Apollo type lettuce varieties are easy to grow and harvest, with a long shelf life once cut. An attractive addition to any container or vegetable patch. High resistance to Downy mildew, Fusarium and mosaic virus, as well as being bolt-resistant.
