When to Plant Brassica Plants

Brassica plants should be planted out between roughly June and August, depending on the variety. This timing allows them to establish and grow well through the cooler months. It’s essential to consult the specific planting instructions for each variety, as some may have distinct planting windows for optimal results. Our extra-early brassica vegetable plant collection, for example, can be planted in March.

How to Grow Brassica Plants

Prepare well-drained, fertile soil enriched with organic matter before planting. Space plants according to their expected size to allow good air circulation and reduce the risk of disease. Water thoroughly after planting and keep the soil moist but not waterlogged during dry spells. Regular feeding with a balanced fertiliser supports strong growth. Monitor plants for pests such as cabbage white caterpillars and take action promptly if needed to protect your crop. Again, check specific instructions for the variety you order.
