Kelsae Onion Seed

Around the country, the Kelsae has a reputation second-to-none and is one of the mainstays of the show circuit, producing well formed, globe-shaped onions with a glowing red tint to the skin. However, unlike many show varieties it has a wonderful sweet flavour, even when large. Whether you plan to grow for showing or to produce a heavy crop of sweet tasting, mild onions for cooking or eating raw, the Kelsae is the one to grow! Seeds are supplied in original raiser packets.

It is with huge regret that we have to announce that there is no Kelsae onion seed for this year and we are unable to supply packets. The Kelsae is a very difficult seed crop to produce. It is a “shy-seeder” and, being a biennial, sometimes set storage over winter is not successful. This year the germination levels of the seed crop doesn't reach our high germination standards and we cannot release it. We will continue to select and grow out the stock. Our seed buyers are working hard and we hope we can make seed available again next year.
