08/12/21. Unfortunately, we have just been advised by our supplier that the crop of the second early potato variety Anya, is not being released by the renowned grower and packer Albert Bartlett for the entire horticultural sector and we are no longer able to supply this variety to you for the remainder of this season. This is a big disappointment to us at this late stage of preparation and almost at the time we are to start despatching seed potatoes to you.
If you have already ordered this variety with us for the 2022 season, please be advised that we will contact you shortly to advise we will automatically substitute it with another top variety called Jazzy. Like Anya, Jazzy is a second early variety and a superb multi-use potato especially boiled or steamed and for use in salads. Many who choose it for the first time continue to buy it year after year – it doesn’t disappoint! With huge yields, its packed with flavour and has good garden disease resistance - what more can we say!
Please rest assured we will automatically change this on your order, you do not need to contact us but please do accept our most sincere apologies for any disappointment and inconvenience caused. If however, this is not a variety you would like to receive please contact us and we will amend your order before despatch commences in January.
Bred from the famed Pink Fir Apple, this outstanding variety is ready to harvest around 3 months earlier, so there is no need to wait for those firm, waxy tubers with that distinctive, rather nutty taste. Anya’s tubers are also smoother and much less knobbly perfect served peeled or unpeeled, hot or cold. Plants are highly resistant to scab. An Albert Bartlett variety.
Potatoes are one of the most rewarding vegetables to grow. There’s the nurturing process of chitting, planting and earthing-up, the anticipation of a good harvest as you dig through the soil and, of course, the unbeatable taste of fresh, home-grown, potatoes.
All potatoes (except for maincrops) will benefit from ‘chitting’ prior to planting out. The chitting process encourages the seed to sprout, which then when planted, helps them to establish more readily, leading to bigger crops. Simply place them, blunt end up, in an old egg box until the shoots are approximately 1½ to 2½cm (½ to 1in).
Potatoes are delivered in 1.5kg bags, each pack containing approx. 15-20 tubers.
