The compact, bushy plants produce an abundance of small, fully double flowers in rich shades of pink, red, orange and yellow. Long, strong stems make the blooms excellent for cutting and they last well in a vase, while the sturdy plants maintain their display through unsettled summer weather.

SOW INDOORS March-April, singly in individual pots of compost, 0.5cm/quarter-in deep. Keep in gentle warmth, harden off and plant out from late May, spacing plants 25cm/10in apart. SOW OUTDOORS April-May, directly into the flowering position, 0.5cm/quarter-in deep. Thin seedlings to 25cm/10in apart. Zinnias dislike root disturbance, so direct sowing is recommended where practical. Keep moist and remove faded flowers regularly to prolong flowering.
