Turnip Early Snowball is a reliable traditional favourite producing smooth, globe-shaped roots with crisp white flesh. Fast to mature and particularly delicious when harvested young, the roots bring a fresh, mild flavour to salads, roasting trays, stews and vegetable dishes. Sow little and often through spring and early summer for a succession of tender home-grown turnips.

Sow outdoors March-July directly into the final growing position, around 1.5cm deep, with rows approximately 15cm apart. Thin seedlings as necessary and keep plants well watered to encourage tender roots. Repeat sowings every two weeks for a succession of crops. Harvest from June onwards, ideally while the roots are young and around tennis-ball size or smaller.
