Sweet Pea Gwendoline is a highly regarded variety producing large, beautifully frilled blooms classified by the National Sweet Pea Society as pale magenta. The flowers are carried on long, strong stems and have the wonderful fragrance that makes sweet peas such a favourite for summer cutting. Equally impressive in the garden or on the show bench, this vigorous climber rewards regular picking with a long succession of scented flowers.

Sow indoors September-October or January-March in deep pots or root trainers, around 1.5cm deep. Autumn-sown plants should be overwintered in a cold frame or unheated greenhouse and planted outdoors in April with minimal root disturbance. Alternatively sow outdoors March-May directly into the flowering position. Space plants around 23cm apart and provide canes, netting or another sturdy support. Water during dry spells and pick flowers regularly to prolong flowering. Flowers June-October.
