Runner Bean St George combines an abundant kitchen harvest with a particularly attractive garden display. Sow indoors April-May in individual pots of seed compost in gentle warmth. Harden off and plant outdoors from late May after the risk of frost. Alternatively sow outdoors May-July around 5cm deep. Space plants approximately 20cm apart and provide sturdy bean frames, canes or netting for support. Keep well watered, particularly during flowering and pod development. Pick beans regularly while young and tender to encourage a continuous supply. Harvest June-October.
