Nicotiana sylvestris is a dramatic architectural plant with tall stems carrying elegant, fragrant white flowers above large, fresh green leaves. Plant it towards the back of a border for height and impact, or grow it in large patio containers where its wonderful evening fragrance can be enjoyed at close quarters. The long stems are also useful for cutting.

Position: Full Sun and Partial Shade
Sow indoors February-April, pressing the seed gently onto the surface of moist seed compost without covering. Maintain 15-20°C for germination. Transplant seedlings at the 2-4 leaf stage, harden off and plant outdoors from late May after the risk of frost, spacing around 23-30cm apart. Keep plants watered while establishing. Caution: harmful if eaten. Flowers July-September.
