Nasturtium Empress of India is a striking compact variety with brilliant crimson-scarlet flowers held above rich, dark green foliage. Its neat, mound-forming habit makes it perfect for sunny borders and patio containers, while both the flowers and leaves are edible, adding a fresh peppery flavour and vibrant colour to salads and garnishes. Easy to grow and long flowering, the blooms are also popular with visiting pollinators.

Sow indoors February-March in individual pots, around 1.5cm deep. Harden off and plant outdoors from late April-May after severe frost has passed. Alternatively sow outdoors April-June directly into the flowering position, around 1.5cm deep and approximately 23cm apart. Keep the soil moist while plants establish, but avoid overfeeding. Flowers June-October.
