Lavender Hidcote Blue forms compact, aromatic plants with deep purple-blue flower spikes standing beautifully above fragrant grey-green foliage. Its neat habit makes it an excellent choice for low hedges, edging sunny borders and dry garden planting. Cut the scented stems for fresh or dried arrangements, or leave plenty for the bees and butterflies that visit the flowers throughout summer.

Sow indoors April-June in a cold frame or greenhouse, covering the seed lightly with fine compost. Germination can take several weeks. Grow in well-drained soil in full sun and keep young plants moist until established. Flowers July-September.
