Slender, wiry stems carry blooms in shades of cream, yellow, orange, pink, red and white. Excellent for cutting when picked as the buds begin to open, this hardy perennial can flower in its first year when sown early. Regular deadheading encourages a longer display.

SOW INDOORS February-April, gently pressing the fine seed into the surface of moist compost without covering heavily. Keep at 15-20°C/60-68°F. Transplant into further pots or trays when large enough to handle, harden off from late May and plant out in June, spacing plants 20cm/8in apart. Keep moist until established and remove faded flowers regularly to prolong blooming.
