Cucumber Diamant F1 is a prolific outdoor variety producing masses of small, straight cucumbers that are ideal for making crisp home-made gherkins and pickles. The crunchy, juicy fruits also have an excellent fresh flavour for salads and sandwiches. Compact plants have good disease resistance and regular picking will keep the harvest coming through summer and into autumn.

Sow indoors in April in individual pots of compost, placing each seed on its edge just below the surface at 20-24°C. After germination, grow on at around 15°C. Harden off from late May and plant outdoors after the risk of frost, spacing around 25cm apart. Alternatively sow outdoors May-June, two seeds per position, thinning to the strongest seedling once the first true leaves appear. Protect young plants with cloches in cold weather and pick fruits regularly. Harvest July-October.
