Cape Gooseberry Golden Berry produces delicious golden-yellow fruits with a distinctive sweet yet tangy flavour, each enclosed in its own papery husk. Enjoy them fresh as a snack or dessert fruit, stew them gently or turn a generous harvest into jams and preserves. The productive plants perform particularly well under glass but can also crop outdoors in a warm, sunny and sheltered position.

Sow indoors February-March in trays or pots, around 0.5cm deep at 15-18°C. Transplant seedlings at the 2-4 leaf stage into individual 12cm pots. Plant into the greenhouse border, large pots or growing bags from May, or harden off and plant outdoors in June in a warm, sunny, sheltered position. Water regularly and feed once plants begin flowering and fruiting. Fruits are ready to pick when the papery husks turn golden brown. Harvest July-September.
