Product Description
Two excellent varieties, ‘Pink Sapphire’ is a uniquely coloured variety bred in the USA and ‘Aurora’ is one of the latest varieties with large, dark fruits cropping well into September.
Pink Sapphire - Yes, a blueberry that is positively pink. This variety has been bred in the USA and we are the first to secure a limited supply for D.T. Brown gardeners. The fruits start at a pale greenish colour, then to dappled pink and finally a deep pink on ripening. Deliciously sweet berries are great eaten fresh or add a novel colour to desserts. As with most blueberries, Pink Lemonade not only yields flavour-full fruit but is also a highly ornamental addition to the garden with showy pink-white flowers in spring and autumn leaves that turn golden yellow and then bright orange. The plants are self-pollinating.
Aurora - Our recommendation for a very late variety - late August and September. A very dark coloured large berry which must be picked when it is fully ripe to get the best from it - a rich, all-round tart flavour which jazzes up the breakfast cereal! The strong growing plants are highly productive.
Both varieties supplied as 2 ltr potted plants- you'll receive a larger plant that’ll establish sooner and as a consequence, fruit earlier and longer too. The plants are, on average, a year older than 9cm potted varieties and due to the larger pot, the roots have more room to grow and develop which in turn allows them to absorb more nutrition, resulting in stronger and healthier plants.
