Add dramatic colour and classic basil flavour to home-grown dishes with this striking purple-leaved variety. Red Rubin produces aromatic, deep red-purple foliage on bushy plants, making it as decorative in borders and patio containers as it is useful in the kitchen. Use the leaves in salads, pasta, pizzas, sauces and herb vinegars, or create a richly coloured alternative to traditional green pesto.
