Pot Black is a compact aubergine developed for productive growing in patio containers, producing heavy crops of small, glossy, almost black fruits. The tender fruits are perfectly sized for roasting, grilling, curries and Mediterranean-inspired dishes. Plants crop best in a greenhouse but can also perform well outdoors in a warm, sunny and sheltered position.

Sow indoors from January to March, 0.5cm deep at 18-20°C. When seedlings emerge, reduce the temperature to approximately 15°C and transplant them individually at the two-to-four-leaf stage. Harden off and plant outside in June in a warm, sunny and sheltered position, or grow in an unheated greenhouse for the heaviest crops. Keep plants well watered, particularly after fruits begin to form, and harvest from July to October while the skins are glossy.
